To all Welsh Weightlifters/ Coaching Teams/ Families,

Can I extend a very happy Christmas to you all and, wish you all a healthy and successful 2019 both on and off the Field of Play.

What a year 2018 was, full of great results from Novice, up-to and including Elite.

Catrin Jones’ Medal at the World Universities and Ellie Pryor’s  attendance and brilliant performance at the Youth Olympics were a credit to them, and their coaching teams.

Our representation  at  GB Team and National level bodes well for the next decade for our Nation!

All the Commonwealth Team made our Nation proud in the Gold Coast. With podium finishes by Laura – BRONZE and Gareth with a BRILLIANT GOLD we certainly raised the bar and the standing of Wales as a top tier nation within the Commonwealth.

The journey of a Weightlifter is sometimes a long and tough road.  But the nation’s anthem and our raising of the flag  is worth every strained sinew and muscle along that road.

We have won a medal at every Commonwealth Games since 1954 and we strive to not only continue but increase our tally at Birmingham 2022.

It will be down to your commitment and training preparedness that these goals can be realised.

So meet 2019 with renewed determination to be Champion. We within the organisation will support and select the athletes who we believe have the steel, determination and ability to  make our nation proud.

Nadolig Llawen!

Ray
