Olympian Gareth Evans, lifting in the 69kg category, fell just short of a European qualification total at the Welsh Weightlifting Championships.
North Walian Catrin Jones smashed a host of records and booked herself a place at next month’s World Youth Games in Peru.
The 15-year-old, who trains at Bangor Sport, broke the British under 16 record at 48kg weight and smashed Welsh records up to under 23 level.
Part of the British talent squad, Jones will head to Peru to compete at the World Youth Games in April.
At the event at Sport Wales National Centre, she lifted a 51kg snatch and 67kg clean and jerk for a 118kg total.
The young lifter has also been nominated to represent Wales at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa in September.
“Catrin has massive potential,” said Performance Director Simon Roach.
“When we look at her totals and her Sinclair points (to compare athletes) her lifting is superb.
“Now she’s opened up new opportunities to get experience and continue to improve.”
Commonwealth Games lifters Darius Jokarzadeh, Stephanie Owens, Christie Williams and Natasha Perdue all won their respective categories.
